Homemade Peanut Butter Cups!

No matter how busy I may get during the holidays...there's always time to make one of my all-time favorites...Peanut Butter cups.

Here's the recipe:

1 Cup Butter
1 3/4 Cup Graham Cracker crumbs
1 Cup Peanut butter
2 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
2 - 12 ounce Packages of Chocolate Chips

Melt butter and let cool.
Add graham cracker crumbs, peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
Mix together well.
Press into 9x13 pan or into individual cups (see photos).
Melt chocolate chips and spread on top (works best by dropping with spoon).
Place in fridge to harden.
Cut into squares (if pan was used).

Good Things Come in Small Packages...

Many years ago a friend showed me these adorable little "Survival" kits and ever since then I have been making and selling them. Originally I started out with ones for "Friendship" and "Mothers" but over the years I've created a variety of others (some by request). This year I had a request to make a Grandmother's kit (not sure why I hadn't thought of it previously) and I'm so glad they did. It's been a great seller and each time I put one together it brings me such joy to know that such a "little" gift can mean so much-both to the giver and to the receiver.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas came early!!

I snuck out (literally) to an estate sale this morning. I say that..because it has come to my attention that I have TOO much stuff....I call it inventory but my sweet husband calls it "junk". So I told tim that I would try not to go sale-ing for a while. However this was a sale that I just couldn't pass up. When the listing said "vintage Christmas items"...they were absolutely right!

I picked up boxes and boxes (and more boxes) of miniture glass ball ornaments, vintage Santa's, vintage reindeer, a pink brush tree (already decorated), a handful of elf ornaments, strands and strands of vintage mercury garland...and this list goes on and on...

Thank you Santa..for coming to visit me early this year!

Oh those wonderful creatures....

Yes. I have a cat. And to anyone that owns a cat...you know what they are all about.

This morning I happened to be taking some pictures of items to add to my Etsy shop . I'm usually pretty fussy about my backgrounds because I like the photo to be about the subject with little or no distractions.

Well when I uploaded some images of the photos that I had taken, I couldn't help but giggle when I saw that my kitty cat had placed her little hippo toy on the floor beside me.

Maybe that was a hint that she wanted some "play" time....lol.

Hoot's There?

I love owls! I've always been fascinated by them and lately them seem to be very popular.

A while ago I purchased some really cute owl stamps but I hadn't had a chance to play around with them. Until this weekend. I finally had some time to experiment with them so I created some adorable paper punched scalloped tags which include an inked image of an owl.

I just think they are so cute!

My First Show!

I will be doing my first vintage show in less than a few weeks and to tell you that I am excited would be an understatement!

I have been as busy as a bee getting everything ready (washing, pressing, tagging) and trying to come up with some creative ideas for displaying all of my vintage items (ideas anyone?).

Will post more details (date, place, time) soon!

On Me, Oh My!

For the past several weeks I have been out scouting estate sales and since tomorrow is Saturday, once again I will be up bright and early, coffee in hand, heading to a few more.
I am amazed at what I have discovered! I picked up three very, very old quilts, a lovely light green chenille bedspread, and a vintage duvet cover (will try and post some pics soon...they are in the wash as I type this) and several vintage pillow case sets. I've also come across some wonderful vintage clothing-dresses and nighties, as well as jewelry and so much more! Oh! And I have an entire bin full of vintage fabrics. Oooolaaalaaa...
Can't wait to see what treasures I find tomorrow.

Flea Markets & Fun!

For the last few days of my vacation, my hubby and I headed up to Sandpoint, Idaho to spend a few days on the lake and to just enjoy this charming little town. To my surprise (and delight), the Local VFW was having their annual Rummage sale. The sale started at 6:oo am...so my friend and I ventured out bright and early. I spent only $3.00 but I was able to find several vintage fabrics, two sets of vintage pillow cases, some kitchen linens, a charming teal blue lace doilie, and a few other treasures.
I haven't been to many of these types of sales but I have to say I am hooked!

Beautiful Orchids!

A friend gave me this orchid plant many, many, many years ago. And I admit...I am not the best at taking care of my plants. Many times I let them go for weeks, it seems, without a single drop of water or attention and yet, somehow they still survive. And this beautiful plant still blesses me with blooms each and every year. For that I am utterly thankful! Gorgeous, isn't it?

P.S. I promise to start taking better care of my plants. :)

Christmas in July!

I know that it's still summer, but I really LOVE Christmas so I just had to put some inspiration kits together that were "christmasy". I started looking through all of my vintage laces and trims and came up with some cute collections. Almost wants to make me pull out all the boxes of Christmas decorations to find more...I did say "almost".

Shabbylicious!

I was so inspired by this inked muslin trim by homesteadtreasures that I just had to try to see if I could make my own version. Today I was out scouting some local estate sales and I came across some lovely pink vintage fabric. When I saw it I knew right away it would be perfect for stamping!

So here are the photos of my creation...

I love this!

Paying it Forward...couldn't we ALL use a little of this concept right now, what with everything going on in the world (economy, job losses, dwindling 401ks, etc.) ? So I decided to participate and I have listed items on both my stores (ShabbyChic Shack and Heart2Home that are PIF's items (paying it forward).

I guess it's my small, small way of contributing...

My new laptop cover...

Ever since I've had my new laptop, I've struggled to find a case that it would fit into. Everything was either too small or too bulky or just didn't look like "me". I had this "vision" of what I wanted in my mind (oh how that happens more often than I can count)...something that was Pink (of course) and that would be girly. For many years I have always had the standard Black model-always professional and business-like.

So an idea came to me this weekend...as I was sorting some of my thrift finds such as vintage pillow cases, fabrics, and lace trim. Why don't I make one?

So I sat down and got to work. I picked some wonderful vintage fabrics that coordinated beautifully and made myself my own custom cover! To say that I am pleased is an understatement...I totally LOVE it! It has all the elements that I adore...pink fabric, buttons, blanket stitching...oh and the 1970's floral fabric just brings back so many happy memories.

More of my thrift store finds....

My $10 Find...

I went thrifting today and was so happy to find this chair. The tag said $20.00 but it was half off the green tags so I totally lucked out that it was on sale. It even came with cat hair so it will fit right into my home.

First day

This is my very first post and I'm a little nervous. Hopefully I will get the hang of it soon. I really need to work on my page...it's definitely a work in progress.
